As the excitement builds for the T20 World Cup, now only a few days away, the buzz around which teams will advance to the semifinals is palpable. Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has shared his predictions for the four teams that he believes will make it to the semifinals. His choices include the host nation India, the reigning champions England from 2010 and 2022, the 2021 titleholders Australia, and the ever-competitive New Zealand, often seen as dark horses in the tournament.

This year's competition marks the tenth edition of the tournament, and it will follow a format similar to that of the 2024 World Cup. Among the nine top-ranked T20I teams participating, Bangladesh will not be taking part due to their withdrawal amid ongoing political issues; they have been replaced by Scotland, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The structure of the tournament includes four groups, each containing five teams competing in a single round-robin format. The two best teams from each group will progress to the Super 8 stage.
Vaughan's announcement on social media has sparked conversations among fans and analysts alike. In his own words, he tweeted, "My 4 T20 World Cup semi finalists will be … India, England, NZ & Australia … #OnOn."
In terms of group placements, India, the defending champions, find themselves in Group A, alongside notable competitors such as Pakistan, the Netherlands, Namibia, and the USA. Their journey kicks off against the USA on February 7, followed by a match against Namibia on February 12. One of the most eagerly anticipated clashes will be against Pakistan on February 15 in Colombo; however, this match's status is uncertain after reports emerged about the Pakistan government considering a boycott. Should that happen, it would result in a walkover victory for India, who will conclude their group matches against the Netherlands on February 18.
Meanwhile, England is positioned in Group C, where they are set to face Nepal (February 8), West Indies (February 11), Scotland (February 14), and Italy (February 16). Australia is competing in Group B, with matches against Ireland (February 11), Zimbabwe (February 13), Sri Lanka (February 16), and Oman (February 20).
New Zealand, on the other hand, has drawn a challenging Group D, where they will compete against Afghanistan (February 8), UAE (February 10), South Africa (February 14), and Canada (February 17).
