Unseen Cameos: The Secrets of Predator: Badlands (2026)

The Ultimate Sci-Fi Crossover That Almost Was

Imagine a world where the iconic characters from the Alien and Predator franchises collided on the big screen. Well, it almost happened, and here's the inside scoop on what could have been a game-changer for sci-fi fans.

Predator: Badlands, directed by the talented Dan Trachtenberg, was set to feature some epic cameos that would have blown our minds. But here's where it gets controversial... these cameos were ultimately scrapped, leaving us with a slightly different take on the story.

The film centered around a young Yautja named Dek, who teams up with Thia, a Weyland-Yutani synthetic android. This alone is a cool connection to the Alien universe, but the real treat was almost the surprise appearances of some legendary characters.

Trachtenberg revealed to ScreenRant that an earlier version of the movie included references to Naru from Prey, the iconic Dutch from the Predator franchise, and even the menacing Xenomorph from Alien. But here's the part most people miss: these cameos were so subtle, you'd barely notice them unless you were looking for them.

In a scene where Dek searches for a planet to prove himself, there was a brief nod to Naru. Trachtenberg explained that the scene was truncated, and the references to these characters were sacrificed as the dialogue was shortened. He said, "They had a longer conversation, but it was cut down. So, there were supposed to be more holograms in the background, but now it's just a soft focus, and you might catch a glimpse."
